With the price of saffron it's still only for the rich
Noble : This is a bit undercooked , Guards go and cook the chef
The reason it was expensive was the saffron... which was and still is extremely expensive.
“I hear our liege is one of the wealthiest in the kingdom. They say his cooks WRITE down their recipes, on paper no less!”
I’m just looking at someone’s entire annual salary dripping off the pork into the fire…
This lady seems really nice
Goes through all the trouble of gilding it, then "I'm going to mince it up finely."
Ginger pepper and saffron must have been an absolute bastard to come by back then
The one only thing I would eat during medieval times lol
Can we get this at the Ren Fest? Turkey legs are good, and so are sausages, but this looks delicious.
Crazy to think how much more expensive it was back then to write things down than to just teach them directly
When I was in high school in the 70’s I made Roman recipes from the Apicius, and I found a cookbook in the library filled with translations of recipes from England in the 16th century, I tried my best to replicate them! I easily so thrilled to find these books in my local library in Erie, Pa.!!! 😃💜✨
Lord: You see that almost done pork roasting there? Cook: The one you requested, milord? Lord: I want you to shred it.
This lady needs a medieval cooking channel!
*I just want this lady to give me a hug and say, “Y’alright luv?”

So incredibly fascinating learning about how ppl lived, ate, worked, etc long, long ago. Thank u so much 🥰😘
does she have her own 'medieval cooking' channel on youtube? if so, whats the name of it!
As soon as she mentioned saffron I was like "ah yes, a royalty only dish."
😮😊 her accent is just joy for me
