Nice idea for pet food prep. I will definitely try. Rice veggies and meat combo.
It's the best! I work nights and freezer meals are *chef's kiss*
I was skeptical of the cubes… but they’re amazing. I learned to Tetris our meals to everyone’s taste. Winning! If you’re skeptical too, they’re worth it.
Man out here eating like Minecraft Steve
I've been using soupercubes a long time for meal prep and it's really helped me so much. I mostly use the 2 cup squares to freeze a single serving of soup/curry etc that I make in big batches. I also use the one cup rectangle to freeze spaghetti sauce and similar things like that, then I will just makes the noodles fresh. I am single and I don't want to eat the same thing everyday for a week, so this way I can make 6-8 servings of something in one go and then eat that when I get like it later in the month and rotate through my meals. It's really helped me save a lot of money because I always have someone fast to eat at home that's a whole meal, so I don't need to go out if I am starving and don't have time to cook
If you use zip locks and flatten the food to start you can freeze, taw and reheat much faster than big blocks of food and your food won't taste like freezer burn as it's air tight in the freezer bag.
I’m Iranian and my family does this. We freeze three whole layers of our freezer just with bread and then we also freeze meat and even fried pieces of sausage. We do the same with some small cuts of meat, chopped peppers for pizza and sometimes even full meals. It’s actually really practical. Maybe it sounds strange to you but it’s very useful and you really have to try it once to understand what I mean. When my mom was pregnant we couldn’t always cook so we used frozen food. Saying that frozen food tastes different is not really fair because even the food we buy from stores is frozen and does it taste different? Of course not. If it did you wouldn’t eat it. Just because something feels unusual to you and you hate on it doesn’t make sense. The fact that you don’t do it doesn’t mean it’s wrong or stupid, it only means you haven’t tried it.
Freezing the water content in starch like rice and noodles breaks down it's structure though. They turn mushy when you reheat them. You might have to undercook them to compensate
It's so sad. Not what did guy did in particular, but that we as a society don't have time or energy to cook because our priority must be work work work. I hate this.
I do this. Cause cooking takes lot of time. I cooked twice a week and freeze all of it. Including rice as well. Its very convenient especially when your living alone.
I love freezer burnt food! Uncovered foods in freezers are my favourite!
This is a great idea, I do however see that leaving food in the freezer uncovered will lead to freezer burn. It can make the food taste off or even gross. So, great idea I would just cover while they’re in the freezer
When my kids were young young I used to make them homemade baby food and put them in ice cube trays (covered) and pull them out to thaw / serve.
I'm doing that with soup, since forever. Everytime I got vegetables going bad,.or with leaf/parts you don't use while making other meals, I keep them aside for a bit. Then throw everything in a big casserole,.boil it,.mix everything into a nice gigantic leftover soup,.cream, spices, butter, and freeze serves of it for winter nights where you're too lazy to cook. Awesome taste,.awesome saves, awesome meals.
