You've reached the end
People need to stop putting these things on TikTok and shorts cuz y’all are making my day harder at work 😂
Make them thin in the bag for defrosting is the best tip I've had today
I buy a cow a year and still have meat left over for next year. It's always good to buy in bulk if you can freeze things.
Costco meat cutter here. Nothing wrong with this, but the tubes are way leaner than the ground beef we grind. We actually use the tubes to lean out our trim. If you're on carnivore and want the extra fat, just get the regular stuff, plus it's only 10 cents a pound cheaper anyway. Also in some stores the tubes are actually bull meat, and that stuff just tastes weird.
Not everything is a "hack" - this is just buying a thing from a place which sells said thing.
You can also smash them all down like that but instead of individual zip locks, stack them divided by parchment. Then wrap in freezer paper or plastic. You can take one or more patties out at a time, easy, and you use 2000% less plastic bags. I do this for bulk tortillas, divide them by 20, use parchment for every 20 in a single freezer bag.
I live alone. I’ll by buy a pack of chicken breast and about 10 pounds of ground beef. When I go grocery shopping I drop about $300 but that one time will last me for almost 2 months
I do the same thing, however, a lot of times I will cook the ground beef with peppers and onions, garlic. Separate the grease, let it cool, bag them up in whatever size package, I use the vacuum sealer so it will last longer, but when you pull it out, you can make spaghetti and meat sauce, chili, goulash, stuffed peppers. It’s already cooked so you can have dinner ready in Minutes.
It’s called a chub and I would recommend taking the plastic off first before cutting it.
Its called a chub. 10lb chub. U can get it in 70%, 80%, 90% sometimes 91%. Also if u put it in the freezer for a little while it makes it so much easier to cut / slice.
I have been doing this for years. Especially with inflation. I do $200 in ground beef and tip roast. I have a store that does not put any dye and cut freshly of the cow 2 1/2 lbs for $2.50 this will last me for 6 months. I use freezer paper to keep the meat from freezer burn. It's best to buy in bulk and save.
Freeze the tube of beef a bit before cutting. Peel the plastic off, then slice portions. You’re for sure getting tiny plastic shards when you slice through the plastic tube back and forth
Man, my family thinks I'm weird for smashing ground beef flat before freezing. Glad to see I've got a fellow believer 😂
I freeze my stuff flat, too! it makes my freezer so organized. I also freeze stews and chilis flat, and they are stacked on end, like a file. Love it!!
2nd a vacuum sealer. You can get one for $50 and keep meat in the freezer for WAY longer Edit: why are their so many bot responses to my comment 😭
Write the date as well, just incase. It may never matter, but it might and it's always good to know how old the stuff is that you're eating.
you could reduce the number of bags and time if you filled it more then use something like a chopstick to press an indent, dividing the meat into portions before freezing it. It's pretty easy to break it apart if there are creases after freezing.
Love this. I RECOMMEND not cutting through the plastc 😢 aside from bacteria and contaminants also microplastics
If you wrap the meat in Saran Wrap and then put it in a ziplock bag, it won’t get freezer burnt cuz there’s no air touching the meat. Or vacuum seal it.
Costco has got us all processing and packaging food.
