The Michelin Star is a flawed system and HEAVILY favors French cuisine. I don’t know the exact figures but I think it hovers around the 80-90% of all Michelin Star restaurants serve french cuisine. Not to mention the country of France has the most Michelin Stars by a long shot.

Michelin stars don’t always often indicate that the restaurant or food is of a high price. Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle is Singaporean street food stall that earned on in 2016. In May 2024 Tacos El Califa de León, a taco stand in Mexico City, became the first Mexican taco stand to receive a Michelin star.
