Food Science and nutrition both are interrelated. Without knowledge of food composition, u can't make a good diet plan. So if u want to go for a nutrition background u have to know about all food science composition and their nutritive value. But in food science, it's not compulsory to know or study human nutrition diet plan and all kind of nutrition-related disease.

One important thing that needs to be mentioned though in regards to those interested in nutrition: it's a highly competitive field where you will most likely be competing with registered Dietitians.
