The slicing things sideways is so true!! The first time I did that on sausage for my husband, he literally brought up how much he liked the cut like 3 times in the span of the next week or so 😂😂😂 it was adorable, it made him so happy.
Another one that might seem obvious is use hot plates for hot food. They don't need to be scorching, just hot enough that they don't steal the heat from the food.

the diagonal cut works because changing the angle of the cut makes the cut physical longer increasing the exposed surface area on your food. Why exactly that may be a benefit varies from dish to dish, but in some cases it definitely is. Like with marinades. More surface area means the marinade can penetrate the food better

A common trick that might be unknown to new cooks: if your dish seems bland and salt isnt helping, try acid. Often times it just needs some acid to brighten it up
