What is this thing hanging from my gas grill? I'll show you! This demo does not follow the full procedure for lighting the grill with this method. Make sure the gas burners are off, light the match, put the match near the burner, and turn the gas on. That avoids any gas build up and nasty surprises (BOOM!).

Edit: Stop saying it's the battery, I have checked it a dozen different ways and no luck, the igniter is just bad. The igniter on my grill just broke earlier this month. After seeing this I bolted out of bed and ran outside, sure enough the grill has this too. My third eye has been opened, thank you
I assembled countless gas grills when I worked at a hardware store and not a single human being there knew wtf it was for. Thank you for the video 😂😂😂
As a hardware store employee who has built a grill before, I had no idea this was a thing but I'm thankful for this information.
6 years after I got my grill. I finally know what that wire is for... you learn something every day
Just like it took me till I was 16 years old to learn that turning on the interior light in your car while driving is not illegal
Used to install them on weber grills at the factory, it is indeed a match holder, we used to call them roach holders as a joke though

It's a grill monocle! To make you look very sophisticated while cooking the steak
"Are you tellin' me that for forty years..."
Thank you for giving the context of the grill and not just showing the match holder and stating with “ have you ever wondered what this thing is”. So many videos do this and it annoys me to no end
The proper way to match light a grill is to light a match and toss it in, then turn the gas on and close the lid. You grill is successfully lit when the lid blows open
The first short that actually taught me something.
It's a blunt holder!
I like the lightning grounding wire explanation better
I've owned grills for easily 15+ years and had no clue what that thing was, I love the internet always teaches me new things every single day.
😂I put a lawn chair next to my grill, and put that thing on a carabiner and longer chain. I have been using that to hold my joints, for damn near a decade 😂
Always wondered this
Just got my first propane grill recently and i thoight this was a safety chain to go around the propane tank lol
I SO needed to know that! I've been wondering for ages and even looked it up in manual but it didn't say. Thank you !!!
Now see THIS is a "I was today years old" type of thing. Thank you. Never knew what that was and never really tried to find out
