Our first day in America is finally here! 🇺🇸 After travelling through Central America for the last 6 months, we’ve arrived in Phoenix, Arizona to experience our first taste of the USA and share our first impressions of America as a British couple. From arriving in the USA and going through American immigration to trying the food, exploring Arizona and experiencing a few unexpected culture shocks, our first couple of days in America certainly gave us a lot. But this is just the beginning of our biggest adventure yet. Our plan is to buy an RV in America and spend the next 6 months on an epic USA road trip, travelling and living in our RV as we explore as much of the United States as possible. Don't mistake the fact that you don't get alerts in the UK as evidence that there's no crime being committed around you. As a Washingtonian I have never had such an alert (although I think that you can ask to be on a list that alerts people to local police activities,) some states have these systems in place.
Guys, we’re so excited to finally be here in the US and getting back to van life! 🇺🇸🚐 The search is already underway for our dream American RV, and hopefully we can find a proper American classic to take us across the country for the next 6 months! Extreme Heat can be dangerous in Arizona, when seeing a warning, make sure you bring extra water to hydrate and get into Air Conditioning by Noon.

Apparently there is no murder in the UK. Must be nice. Yes, deserts are hot in the summer. The weather in the United States can kill you. It’s generally advisable to visit the northern states in the summer to avoid dying in a blizzard. And it’s also common to visit the southern states in the winter to avoid heat stroke.

When you are in rattlesnake country, remember that they are cold blooded which means when the temperature is cool, the snakes will be in the sun and when the temperature is hot they will be in the shade. You do not want to get too close to one before you even know it is there. As for the alert, it is not fun to think about murderers on the run, but for perspective I did a quick search and found that Great Britain has an average of 1.4 murders per day and is smaller than Arizona, which has an average of 1 murder per day. So you are probably safer there than at home.
First of all Pima county alert, that is the Tucson area which is roughly 130 miles from where you are. Also you are in a Valley community of roughly 4.5 million people. The likelihood that you would run across the individual on the alert is so incredibly minute, I wouldn't think twice about it! No worries mate!😉

Not sure when you showed up and landed in Arizona, but angry Ken was spot on about the weather. This is an "El Nino" year and the humidity has been absurd, especially here in SoCal. Get used to sweating, which normally something we in the Wild West dont have to worry about. Dry heat is much more tolerable, as your sweat actually evaporates and cools you off as intended.
