I think the best way to manage traffic noise are large dirt berms. By large, i'm talking eight to nine feet tall. They'll block a ton of traffic noise, dirt's cheap, and you can zhoosh it up with plants and strategically placed stones. The real cost is to have a bulldozer or skidsteer come out to shape the berm itself. On top of that, it provides total privacy for your family. The house is really coming along!

Robbie, since the wood flooring layer isn’t the original and there are more layers below, it made me wonder if you are planning to go deeper to uncover those layers below. If so, could you just remove the current wood layer with the green linoleum intact and eliminate the need to painstakingly pull all those dang nails and staples?

Have you checked into irrigation water? Your well may run dry with all the gardening you plan on! Check with neighbors to see where they get their irrigation water from. Enjoying your videos. Thanks for bringing us along during the craziness!
When you're looking from the basement, the planks you see are the actual sub floor and are often not "pretty wood" and sometimes have small gaps between boards. The intention is/was that the actual flooring goes on top of that so subfloors are very utilitarian. Now we just put sheets of plywood down instead of milled boards like they used to.
Is there a reason you aren’t just tearing up ALL the layers of flooring together instead of one by one? You might be able to bypass taking out all those staples by just going down further and tearing up that rough wood flooring.

This brought back memories of when my husband passed away. I decided to spend my grieving time doing something productive and ripped every floor out of my house to get hardwood floors. I was so careful removing nails because of my dog yet he still managed to cut his paw pad. Spent the night at the emergency vet and thousands later he was as good as new.
