As somebody who loves trying new fast food items, grocery store finds, and limited-time snacks, this one immediately caught my attention at H-E-B. The best part? The poblano peppers absolutely carry this queso. They add a smoky flavor and just enough peppery kick to keep every bite interesting. The brisket flavor is there, but honestly I wanted even MORE brisket. The queso itself is creamy, cheesy, and super easy to make since you can microwave it right in the container. This feels like the perfect snack for game day, movie night, tailgates, or honestly just standing in your kitchen with tortilla chips at midnight making questionable life choices. π Overall, I thought it was GOOD but not legendary, so I gave the H-E-B Brisket Queso a solid 3.5 out of 5 on the Brick Scale! I think I would have to supplement that dip with some extra brisket. You said that it had a heavy brisket flavor. Iβm assuming that you meant that it tastes like smoked brisket, right? I donβt know how you feel about Liquid Smoke, but itβs probably in that dip. I made a smoked brisket pizza once and the meat lost all of the smokiness in my pizza oven which at the time I was running at about 750 F. The next pizza I made I added just a tiny amount of LS to the sauce and it solved the problem and the pizza was delicious. I had to use a little trickery, but LS is not fake smoke flavor and it restored the smokiness to the meat even if it was a sensory illusion.
I think that weβre both in the same boat that at this point in life weβve done enough crazy things that little adjustments for health reasons probably wonβt make that much difference one way or another. For example, I couldnβt care less about βmicroplasticsβ. Iβve never seen them, never tasted them, donβt care. However, about 15 years ago I stopped heating food in plastic containers. It seems to make sense that itβs not a good idea to mix food and hot plastic. Youβre a national treasure and we have to keep you around for as long as possible. So, if you ever buy this dip again, which I suspect you wonβt, please consider putting it in a microwave safe glass bowl before nuking it. Itβs important to eat healthy, ya know. π»π₯πΈπ·ππππ₯π
