(The academic planner is the one from my stationery shop [ad] - https://pumpkinproductivity.co.uk/products/the-academic-planner-2026-2027). I realise that my decision about this phd has been allll over the place, quite literally for years, but I think I'm going to do it. I say 'possibly' in the video only because I want to let myself change my mind if things don't end up working out. Hey! I think this is my first comment on the channel but I wanted to congratulate you on the PhD! I think we are the same age (born 2000) and even though we come from very different backgrounds, lives and research fields, I have been a follower for years. By chance, we both did our BA and MA at the same time, same gap years and everything. I am also now getting ready for a PhD! Though it will take me longer since I have to secure funding for it. Thank you so much for the encouragement all of these years, I would like to return it in the form of this comment. Go get em!!!
getting an offer for a phd at oxford is wonderful, but letting yourself change your mind about it and being open to things changing is truly where the real wisdom lies. congratulations!
Although you still sound a little hesitant to commit to the PhD, you are probably the most prepared and capable person to do it! Remember that you will be the expert on your chosen subject and that sounds perfect for you. 😊
Congratulations for starting your PhD
Congrats, dearest Ruby! You are the reason I started my own studytube & booktube channel (in German) six years ago, and to this day remain a strong inspiration and amazing artist to me. I wish you all the best for your PhD and will be happy to watch your videos from time to time to catch up. Love from Bamberg, Germany! ❤
Congratulations! But do you mean October this year?! 😮 Do they not need you to confirm asap?
that's a partial solar eclipse Ruby! a total solar eclipse would of been 1000 times better.
You’re so lucky to have Lola
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a simple, highly effective revision framework I use for heavy subjects (like Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Language Grammar). It turns passive watching into active mastery. Step 1: Live Annotation (During Lectures) Write down every detail with the instructor to stay engaged. Use Sticky Notes exclusively on hard questions, key trick questions, or exam-level problems as you encounter them. Step 2: The Master Summary & Focused Practice (Post-Chapter) After finishing a chapter, split your revision into two distinct parts: 1. The Roadmap Summary: Synthesize the entire chapter into a concise reference sheet containing step-by-step formulas, core rules, and exact textbook page references. 2. Targeted Practice: Solve only the sticky-noted hard questions using pen and paper while keeping your summary sheet open for guidance until the logic clicks naturally. This eliminates burnout by preventing you from re-studying what you already know and forces your brain to bridge knowledge gaps directly. Hope this helps your exam prep! — Nawars, a fellow student
Somebody's pushing toward 1 million subscribers..... and so well-deserved, too. On to your PhD., Ruby!

I'm looking forward for your new videos from Oxford! Congratulations 👏
I am so excited for my doctorate in Sept! Counting down the days 🎉
i don't comment very much but i must say congratulations Ruby!! ♡ your videos has been such a wonderful inspiration and such a great comfort in my life for many years now. i've started my very first personal curriculum recently (i am learning about England history- currently studying the Anglo-Saxons period), and it's giving my heart spark again. i've been deeply depressed for awhile now, so this time i am finally to feel like life will be alright again. thank you for all that you give into the world, and i wish you all the best with your Phd journey if you decide to move along with it this October! 💕
Congrats again on the PhD Ruby!
Congrats! I was waiting for an update on your phd for quite a while, so I got super excited when I saw you posted a new video. 😄
Chapter 1: "Out of season, the bar of the Cobweb Inn at Boscastle is everything a pub should be". Oh yes, I see it.
Could you please share how you prepare for your PhD and any tips or methods that have worked well for you as a PhD student? In my case, I need to prepare for an entrance exam in order to be admitted to the PhD program, as this is how the process works at my university. Thank you, and congratulations! Good luck with your PhD journey! 🌷
This is so nice to see! I started watching you before you'd even started university, when I was in the middle of my PhD program. Your videos served as very pleasant inspiration and motivation to study and get my life in order, which I sorely needed (pandemic + ADHD + grad school was rough). Last week was the three year anniversary since I graduated! I wish you continued success and fulfillment in your journey (if you do, indeed, end up pursuing this degree now), as well as rest and enjoyment along the way.
