But first… we have a problem. Our gray water system is completely backed up, leaving roughly 250 gallons of water sitting in our pump box. Without getting this working, we can't continuously use the kitchen, finish the bathroom, or eventually live inside the watermill. So Drew takes on a job neither of us expected to be doing ourselves: figuring out and installing our septic pump system. And of course, it doesn't go exactly according to plan. After cleaning out years of mud and debris, making another trip to the hardware store, measuring, cutting, gluing and assembling what feels like a million pieces of PVC, we finally get the pump installed and tested. Meanwhile, we install our beautiful old market find sink, add a new brass faucet, install our first proper flushing toilet, and finally have running water inside the bathroom! And then comes some HUGE news: our electrical inspection passed with flying colors, bringing us one major step closer to finally receiving the habitation license we've been working toward for the past three years. This watermill is finally starting to feel like home.
