Counter-steering EXPLAINED! #shorts #viral #trending #discover #bike #safety

Autos and Vehicles

In this video, I explain why turning right can make a motorcycle lean left, and turning left can make it lean right — an effect known as countersteering. It usually shows up at higher speeds, and not understanding it has led to real accidents. In one case, a rider turned the handlebar right to take a curve, but the bike leaned the opposite way, and trying to correct it just caused the same thing to happen again. Another clip shows the same effect more clearly: pushing the right side of the handlebar turns it left, which makes the bike lean right. This happens because of physics — specifically the gyroscopic effect of the spinning wheels combined with the centripetal force involved in making a turn. This video is for educational purpose.
