As a portlander, I am so sad that Holy Donut is the top of rec lists. Would love to see you come back! So many good finds here like Izakaya Minato, Oun Lido, Terlingua, Leeward.
You’re not wrong- the Holy Donut is a total tourist trap. Driest donut I’ve ever had lol.
Potato donut is pretty common in my country and they’re popular because they’re less dense and more moist than flour donut. Interesting the one you had in Portland is pretty dry 🤔
My parents grew up in Iowa. They call potato donuts "spudnuts" there. My mom used to reminisce about getting spudnut sundaes as a teenager. 😊
I’m so intrigued in the banana cake with cream cheese frosting and olive oil AND black pepper?! Not judging, just curious🤔
that banana cake 😍
These are some of the most interesting baked goods I’ve ever seen. Now I’m intrigued to check out Portland ME for their bakeries!
NYer who just got back from a trip to Portland…The Tandem breakfast sandwich is unreal on their biscuit if you get a chance to try it. Check out Mr. tuna if you get a chance.
Aw I'm sad that you had a disappointing experience at Holy Donut. They used to be excellent!
Why does that banana cake sound like it absolutely works?
Portland is so beautiful
that tahini cookie from bread and friends is the hands down best cookie I've ever had in my LIFE. it's been almost a year since I've been. and I think about it close to every single day. I am so glad of of my fav food bloggers is aware of it.
I just went o holy donut for the first time last week. I am gluten free and got the cinnamon sugar, maple , vanilla sprinkles, and lemon blueberry. My bf who is not gf for theblueberry and maple bacon. Both the regular blueberry and gf blueberry lemon were very dry and we could not finish them. My bf said he thought the gf was overall a better texture which was shocking. My favorite was the cinnamon sugar, it reminded me of an apple cider donut which is my favorite.
The holy donut is not great anymore dry gross not good.
Potato donuts!!! I’ve only ever heard of them as beignes aux patates. I’m from Québec and my mom made them for us as kids. So yummy! I wonder if there’s a French connection with the Acadian community in Maine being the reason why they also make these. I have to learn more! Hopefully you have a better one some day because they’re so yummy.
Sometimes I really miss the east coast 😭😭
Holy donut isn’t that great. If anyone’s in Portland 88 donuts is sooo good. Fresh made to order and you get a box of six mini donuts
As a Portlander, Holy donut is the most overrated spot in Maine!
absolutely criminal you didnt make it to Two Fat Cats Bakery. As a baker and a foodie, I've been everywhere listed in this video, but Two Fat Cats is the Portland winner for me. You'll just have to go back Kaitlyn haha
I love Standard Baking Company!
