my girl, you are COMPETENT. you were basically the chosen one out of a bigillion dental students (that may be a slightly inflated number but you get the idea) to be there! of course you know a lot of things. you are there to learn and understand more, and there is no rush. it's only been a couple of weeks. please stop being so hard on yourself. you are more than enough. we are rooting for you. 💛
My dad has been a dentist for around 35 years now, and he always tells me, while he studied he felt pretty confident but when he started working he felt like a baby learning to walk, so inexperienced and like he knew NOTHING. Once he started getting accostumed, he got INCREDIBLY comfortable and now managed to be quite good. He thinks the key to being a good dentist is to always think what could be best for your patient, and that will get you far. You are going to be GREAT girl
I can see her weight loss in her face , poor Kay is working so hard
Hi Kay! You're going to be a great prosthodontist! My drama teacher once told me "everyone in the audience is rooting for you," and I think the same applies here too! Your mentors, peers, patients and viewers are all rooting for you, there's nothing that you cannot achieve!!
Feeling like a hinderance is so normal when you're starting a new job. It's something everyone has experienced. You're amazing, keep working hard!!
I hope you feel better Kay, I had a similar experience recently when I started a master's degree in physics. I worked really hard in undergrad, and managed to get into a top uni. When I came here i realised how little I knew, and how much I needed to study to get to the level of my peers. Your videos were a great source of inspiration for me and still are whilst i go through it. We believe in u queen ♥️
When I saw ts my mental breakdown suddenly got better
0:39 giiiiiirl don't show the internet where you live or the landmarks near you
7:37 No matter how much you've studied, you'll always be learning new things. This doesn't mean you're not intelligent enough or inept, just human. You pay attention to your patients and are aware that they are ill, and you think about what you can do to help them. There are things you won't learn in a book, or in any class, or from any teacher, but through experience. You'll be a great dentist, Kay. Never stop learning.
Give yourself some grace Dr. Kay! You’re not bad at it, it’s just new. There will always be a learning curve, but once you ride it you’re definitely gonna rock it 🩵
I worked side-by-side with my prosth colleagues and I can tell you this is completely normal. Your first year will make you feel completely incompetent, then in the second year you build up your confidence, and in third year it starts to click and you're able to predictably tackle more challenging cases. You got this!!
New video we so backkk
kay, you have no idea how necessary this video was for me - i genuinely needed an external source of motivation because studying feels like hell on a few random days (especially when theres a test tmrw and suddenly everything feels new)- i opened your channel to motivate myself , and seeing this video being uploaded only 3hrs ago made me smile like an idiot, in some way i see you as an exam good luck charm deluding myself into believing that when someone i truly admire uploads everything will be alright. thank for always motivating us, you're an amazing person. lots of love and more power to you! [this was so badly written, but we'll move past that cause it's the thought that counts :))]
I just started my new job as an engineer at Apple and feel the same way. Every time I feel like I know what I'm doing I start questioning if I know anything at all lol. Just the growing pains!
As someone who also struggles with an imposter syndrome feeling from time to time, we don't really give ourselves enough gratitude. Keep working hard and remember how far you've come! Your residency picked you for a reason! Thanks for being so inspiring, Kay 🧡
8:00 ummm you just syressed your self for nothing ur the besd dentist i ve ever watched i wish that i met you one day love your self toyr the best
Girl, this is so real. I'm not in dentistry, but I'm a recent graduate of education, and I remember feeling so incredibly incompetent in my student teaching because everything is so new. Now I am heading into my first year teaching and i do be scared!
2:07 her face 😭😭😭😭😭
She looks pale and a little weak.. I really hope Kay makes it through residency! She got so far! She can do this.
Im gonna be entering dental school in a month , you're vlogs have been such a motivation and it's because of you I got an interest in dentistry anddd I finally passed the exammm💖😭 yayyyyyyy
