Hey guys! My dad was a civil engineer and projects like this he would tear it all down and start over. He would back it with the proof that it will cost less and obviously be better and less longer. It’s a tough decision but one that should be considered.
I hope you take the time to really sit back and think this one out.. consider all the electrical costs, plumbing, Sheetrock, bathroom fixtures, full kitchen Reno, tools, foundation, termites.. everything you can really think of. Then get a price for a new build.. just get the price then consider your decision.. you don’t want to have any regrets and you want to spend wisely as this is no joke it’s an investment in your future. Best of luck in whatever you choose. Love you guys
Not for the faint of heart. Your transparency into the ups and downs of home ownership is really refreshing. Glad you’re thinking long-term.
This is a comment to help boost your budget…and a reminder that your massive property, even with all the additional costs was a steal for your lovely country home. Thank you for sharing all the details; this is what building empowerment looks like. Robbie and Brent, y’all are awesome.
I used to work for a company that did basements and you could have a new basement poured for that price. Maybe check with construction companies on having a new wall poured.
I live in an area where it is common to jack up and move houses or lift and replace foundations with block foundations. Don’t know if that is an option but may be worth talking to a block mason or construction company for a quote
I just love that you share the entire process of getting the quote, including the questions you ask. This is so rare to see and makes this really relatable. Guys, you got this. I will keep commenting, to increase your reach and show my support.
If this house had all the beautiful features of an old house that was something worse restoring I would get keeping the house but there isn't any old house charm pieces in it. I would look into just for the numbers to fully replace the house.
You really just purchased a 4 1/2 acre lot. This house is a teardown.
Sometimes it's best to just tear down and rebuild new & pretty.
Robbie, I suggest pushing the old house down and have a construction company build you a new farm style shell that you and Brent can wire, plumb and finish off youselves. Old houses are always needing expensive fixes!
I usually don’t comment. But can you lift the house 🏡 and pour a new foundation.
Definitely talk to a contractor about about a fresh rebuild…will be much safer for you both
80,000 subscribers, way to go Robbie! 🎉 I believed in you from the moment I saw how kind, funny, charismatic, optimistic and enthusiastic you were. I hope you and Brent take some time today to celebrate this thrilling milestone for your channel! 🥳🇨🇦
Robie check with your local farmers on the trees they might be able to help out with that for a much lower price to earn extra money.
Australia gal here…Wow…basement whoes….and then Robbie says his ‘heart just fell out of his butt’….nearly fell out of my chair laughing…..❤❤❤
Hey guys, I know we all had sticker shock along with you guys, but I definitely agree that this is not something you should DIY even though I know you guys are so good at just about everything. I’ve mentioned this before, but is it possible for you guys to put a Super Thanks button for those of us that want to contribute a little something? I know you guys are humble and don’t really like doing that, but you might be surprised at how many people really do want to contribute!
Hi Robbie and Brent… I have faith that a year (or two) from now you’re gonna look back on all this and say, “wow what a ride” “But it was worth it!” 😊 Liz
Hi Robbie, get multiple quotes for this.. contractors know most people don't attempt this type of projects. Typically 3 quotes is what is recommended but do more! You may want to raise house up off ground if you are spending this kind of money since it flooded previously?
Okayyy! Calling all sponsors! This is your chance to represent your product! Let’s get this done! 🙌🏼🤗💯
