Sure the gaming performance is mid on the steam machine, but when you are just using it for work, Linus believes it might be one of the best small form factor computers around! Tech my tip linus
0:39 the experience of Teams auto opening at the worst time is cross-platform, what a joy!
Linus's genuine excite about linux really puts a smile on my face
0:14 to be clear 0:29 to be clear 0:37 to be clear Guys, I think Linus is trying to be really clear.
Guys, remember. KDE Plasma still exists on other distros
5:32 you heard it guys, Linus is a huge fan of Docking!
Really happy LInus acknowledged and thanked the components that make up SteamOS. Thank you Arch Linux, KDE, the Flatpak Team and Valve for making Steam OS possible and for making an easy desktop for new users to get accustomed to.
It took Valve and their hundred engineers to break Linus' Linux curse lol.
4:40 Windows speakers not pinging when being clicked - YES! I thought rage about this was only just me!!!
8:53 go into settings -> application permissions and make sure Chrome has permission to see the files you’re dragging and dropping!
8:47 the reason you can't drag files into chrome is because chrome is installed as a flatpak which sandboxes it so it can only see the files in ~/Dowloads by default. You can change that by installing flatseal to easily give it access to more folders. It would be cool if there was a feature to prompt you about adding a new permission instead of it just erroring out.
Localsend can be an alternative for transfering files between iphone and your machine. Works really well with anything really
Not even joking. Mentioning the window snapping not being fucking broken as hell had made me want to switch lmao.
The best part about SteamOS is that it's the easiest way to be able to tell people that you run Arch BTW.
Funny hearing Linus "i break every Linux" Sebastian say he's not sure if he can go back to windows
love the valve noises in the background every time. good job Editor Björn Samson
AUTOscrolling is available in plasma. Checkout Mouse settings -> Hold down middle button and move mouse to scroll
Props to the video editor for making the VLC traffic cone icon appear like a little hat on the machine and then fall off. 🤠
I like that i watch all these steam machine videos as if i could afford it
8:44 oh, I know this issue. I even have a somewhat detailed technical explanation, if you're curious. Flatpak apps run in a sandbox, which is usually quite restricted in terms of file access. Drag and drop also sometimes works in a sandbox-aware way, but usually it's just telling the destination app a file path. But the sandboxed app can't see that file, so it says "file doesn't exist". It's annoying, yeah, solvable through an app called Flatseal, and you would need to give every app the permission (or apply globally) :/
