Steam has made Linux on the desktop a commercially viable option for personal use. This is the first time it has seen any real success in that market since it's inception. Steam/valve are the ones to thank for getting us over the hurdle but it was a group effort just like it always is with Linux.

the last point is really nice, it's only gonna get worse with windows the more of a monopoly they have. I don't think I really want to make the switch, as I just KNOW there will be some games or software that'll be a massive PITA to get working on it. but I'm very glad there at least IS an option, because anything apple related can absolutely get bent
