Professor Jim Al-Khalili traces the story of arguably the most important, accurate and yet perplexing scientific theory ever: quantum physics. The story of quantum physics starts at the beginning of the 20th century with scientists trying to better understand how light bulbs work. This simple question soon led scientists deep into the hidden workings of matter, into the sub-atomic building blocks of the world around us. Here they discovered phenomena unlike any encountered before - a realm where things can be in many places at once, where chance and probability call the shots and where reality appears to only truly exist when we observe it. --- Subscribe to Spark for more amazing science, tech & engineering videos: https://goo.gl/LIrlur 🚀 Join the Spark Channel Membership to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMV3aTOwUtG5vwfH9_rzb2w/join Find us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SparkDocs/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/spark_channel/ Any queries, please contact us at: [email protected] #Spark #physics

You ARE MY HERO DOCTOR ALKHALILI! YOU DON'T EVEN KMOW HOW MANY TIMES I WATCH EACH ONE OF YOUR DOCUMENTARIES! GOD BLESS YOU SIR!🫡🫡🫡
So happy to have discovered Dr al Khalil
It's amazing the way you explain photoelectric effect and ultraviolet catastrophe. Thank' professor
I can’t stop talking about how good this is!
Almost 10M views, unusual to such educational content, also on a scientific concept many can hardly understand. It is captivating. Thank you Professor Jim, Al-Khalili
Jim Al-Khalili only exists when I'm looking at him.
At 53 minutes and 41 seconds you show the addition, but one of the numbers is a negative value 0.59 which would give the total 1.35 proving Einstein was right. I would love to see the full equation on this do you have a link?
Perhaps that was the way of thinking of Nikola Tesla when he said: "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration"
Never have watched such a tremendous documentary on such an incredible topic,
it's not everyday that I see a physicist diving into his subjects quite literally. Jim is always entertaining and highly educative...
Jim Al-Khalili makes complicated topics easy to understand.
Great documentary! Only one thing, fotossintese isn't the only thing making possible live on earth. Chemical reactions can also do it. That's happening in hot springs (volcanic) at the bottom of the ocean, thousands of meters below the sunlight. p.s. sorry my english, is not my born language
We are the universe, we are quantum machines, understanding ourselves, what we are and why we exist.
Reality Exposes The TRUTH…
This video is the cats meow of the Quantum world, Anthony Patch did a series on the Quantum aspects of cubits for computers it was so scary to me its like staring at a team of Geniuses ten thousand times faster than you can comprehend, I have been a huge fan of Jim AI-Khalili he is the gem on physics.
as for electricity tesla understood unlike most scientist, that electricity is a basic building block of the universe as well as life and it too is made of particles that are effected by gravity
This is GREAT. It's hard to believe that knowledge such as this is immediately available for us to enjoy, anytime we wish, wherever we wish, and completely free at that. Always having access to these tiny, pocket sized encyclopedias wherever we go. Unreal... we're living in the freaking future! 😱
I seem to understand something great but it slips through my mind like sand when I try to grasp at it, it's mind blogging what it is, like it's truly incomprehensible to my mind.... Boy am I glad to discover this video, the awe I felt and mixture of emotions is just, I can't put it into words Love it ♥️💅 This is definitely the highlight of my yr Imagine being able to say " I can hear the smell" lol 😆
We exist so the universe can know itself.
The most brilliant man I know, a published PhD physicist, once told me: "If you claim to truly understand quantum theory, you're a liar". Coming from a man who had published multiple papers and was considered an expert, that's a scary thought.
