I am shocked at how many time AI has given me answers that are not logical. And when I call it on it, it agrees it was not logical. Who needs stupid.
Data centres are old tech right now and the new technology is being withheld till the big players have backed the wrong horse
This massive investment in data centers is going to make the telecoms' investment in fiber look brilliant.
I watched a news clip of a quantum computer by a quantum processor engineer, several months ago, who clearly stated that the small quantum computer she was standing next to, which was about the size of a 50 gal. water drum, processed more data than an entire, massive data center, at a tiny fraction of the power, and no water or liquid cooling. I knew that was the end of massive data centers.
It seems like the industry is doing Ready, Shoot, Aim. Everything just needs to slow down. The risk of not doing so is enormous.
Question: if Data centers have all the data information why doesn't it fix itself? WTF
It called a Pump and Dump....
It’s still a data center. It’s a quantum data center instead of a classic data center. Many people are opposed to data centers, but data centers have existed for many decades. The entire internet relies on data center. A data center is essentially an internet factory - the product it produces is the internet. It’s just more data centers are needed than before with the rise of AI. The current model of data centers is not good for the environment, but we can make data centers better for the environment. We know the technology on how to make data centers more environmentally friendly, but corporate billionaires and multimillionaires don’t want to take these measures. It sounds like quantum data centers are an environmentally friendly option, but they are still a form of data centers.
Don't believe that quantum computers can beat data centres at AI tasks. They are different beasts.
It is time to start using these machines for the better of the people.
Apparently, from what I am learning, quantum systems are very good at some things, not as good as others, but requires a lot of regular computer systems in order to process the data coming from them. So, the plan has been to add quantum to the rest of the stack in these giga-factories. NVIDIA has CUDA-Q, which has become a defacto standard for quantum systems, which integrate into the regular CUDA graphics card processing. If you have a steak knife and a butter knife - you could use one for steak and butter, but they each have their function, so why leave one or the other off the table?
I got a digital nuclear reactor in radiator that cost 0 to run
I hope this is true the quantum people like to cook the books to get funding
Quantum computing is like fusion, always right around the corner
Love the blue shirt, and the McCoy name association.
Sounds as if Google might be positioned really well with Willow and Gemini.
Julia, you have a great mind and rock a uniform quite well. Thanks.
The only way forward is backwards. Drmcoy...
I'm no expert and it seemed even a year ago I was thinking... why build energy demanding data centers as won't they become obsolete? I wonder if big construction companies and the electric companies want data centers so they make more money and resist if other energy efficient means comes along.
If in superposition it only potentially exists, its not actual until a collapse of wavefunction. Computers can't compute without actual parts. FYI scientists reviewing their peers is biased colleague support, not an independent verification proof
