Episode 10: The Unexpected Enemy

The lawyer stepped into the living room and placed a brown envelope on the table.

"I'm afraid this is serious," he said.

Ada's father opened the envelope with shaking hands.

His face turned pale.

"No... this can't be happening."

Ada grabbed the documents.

The lawsuit claimed that the family land belonged to another man named Chief Victor Okeke.

"He says he has legal documents proving he bought the land over twenty years ago," the lawyer explained.

"But that's impossible!" Ada's mother cried. "We've lived here for years."

The lawyer sighed.

"There's more."

He pulled out an old photograph.

Ada stared at it.

Standing beside Chief Victor was a man she recognized immediately.

"Uncle Emeka?"

Her father closed his eyes.

"Yes."

"He was my younger brother."

Ada frowned.

"What does Uncle Emeka have to do with this?"

Her father spoke quietly.

"I trusted him with all my property documents while I traveled for work years ago."

The lawyer nodded.

"We believe someone forged your father's signature and secretly sold the land."

Maya gasped.

"You mean... someone in our own family betrayed us?"

Before anyone could respond, the front gate swung open.

A black SUV drove into the compound.

The door opened.

An elderly man stepped out, dressed in a white traditional outfit.

It was Uncle Emeka.

He walked into the house confidently.

"I heard you've received the court papers," he said with a smile.

Ada's father stood up angrily.

"Tell me it isn't true!"

Uncle Emeka looked him straight in the eye.

Then, without a trace of regret, he said,

"It's true."

"I sold the land."

"And I don't regret it."

The room fell into stunned silence.

Ada clenched her fists.

She realized the greatest betrayal hadn't come from a stranger...

It had come from family.
