The Last Seen

Episode 2: The Truth at the Restaurant

Ada stood behind a pillar, unable to believe what she was seeing.

Daniel was smiling—a smile she hadn't seen in weeks.

The woman across from him reached for his hand, and he didn't pull away.

Ada's heart raced.

Instead of making a scene, she quietly took a photo. Then she walked into the restaurant.

"Daniel."

He looked up, and the smile disappeared from his face.

"Ada... what are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same question."

The woman looked from Daniel to Ada, confused.

"Daniel, who is she?"

He opened his mouth, but no words came out.

Ada laughed bitterly.

"So you couldn't reply to my messages because you were... busy?"

The woman frowned.

"Wait... you're his girlfriend?"

Ada nodded slowly.

The woman stood up immediately.

"He told me he was single."

Silence.

Daniel tried to explain.

"It's not what you both think..."

But neither woman was listening anymore.

The stranger picked up her handbag.

"If you can lie to her, you'll lie to me too."

She walked away without looking back.

Ada stared at Daniel for a few seconds.

"I didn't lose you today, Daniel."

"You lost someone who truly loved you."

With tears in her eyes—but her head held high—she turned and walked out of the restaurant.

Daniel ran after her.

"Ada, please... just give me five minutes."

She stopped.

Without turning around, she said,

"You have five minutes...

...to explain why this isn't the end."
