The Day My Village Became Rich for 17 Minutes
It all started when our neighbor shouted, "Everybody come outside! Free money is falling from the sky!"
Within 30 seconds, the entire street emptied. Even the old man who always claimed his knees had retired suddenly started sprinting like he was training for the Olympics.
People grabbed buckets, baskets, cooking pots, and one woman even carried her refrigerator tray because she said, "Money doesn't wait for prepared people!"
Children were diving into bushes. One uncle climbed a mango tree because he believed the wind was carrying the money upward.
Then the village tailor announced, "I already picked β¦500,000!"
Immediately, everyone believed him.
Five minutes later, another man claimed he found β¦2 million. Someone else shouted, "I have resigned from poverty!"
One woman called her landlord and proudly said, "I'm buying your house this evening."
Another man phoned his boss:
"Sir, I quit!"
His boss asked, "Why?"
He replied, "Because destiny has located me."
After 17 minutes of madness, a little boy quietly raised his hand and said:
"Uncle... the 'money' everyone is chasing is actually wedding invitation cards that fell off a moving bus."
Silence.
The man who resigned from his job slowly picked up his phone.
"Hello, Boss..."
"Yes?"
"I was just testing if my network was working."
The landlord received another call.
"Please ignore everything I said. I was speaking in faith."
The tailor who claimed he found β¦500,000 quietly packed the invitation cards into a nylon bag and said,
"At least I know where the wedding is. Free jollof rice is still a profit!"
Moral of the story: Before celebrating a miracle, make sure it's not somebody else's wedding invitation.
