The Last Seen
Episode 7: The Choice That Changed Everything
The room was silent.
Ada couldn't believe what she had just heard.
Her father looked at her with tears in his eyes.
"Yes, Maya is your sister."
Ada slowly stood up.
"For all these years... you let us live a lie?"
Her father lowered his head.
"When I was younger, I made a mistake. I was afraid of losing my family, so I kept the truth hidden. I thought I was protecting everyone."
"But you weren't protecting us," Ada replied. "You were protecting yourself."
Her mother wiped away her tears.
"I only found out a few days ago. I was waiting for your father to tell you himself."
Ada turned to leave.
"I need time."
Outside the house, Daniel was waiting.
"I know this isn't the right time," he said softly, "but I couldn't stop thinking about you."
Ada looked at him.
"For the first time in my life, I don't know who I am anymore."
Daniel didn't try to hug her.
He simply stood beside her in silence.
Sometimes, the greatest comfort isn't finding the right wordsβit's refusing to let someone face their pain alone.
A week later, Maya invited Ada to meet.
Nervously, Ada agreed.
The two sisters sat across from each other in a quiet cafΓ©.
"I don't expect you to accept me immediately," Maya said. "I only wanted you to know that none of this was your fault."
Ada smiled faintly for the first time in weeks.
"None of it was yours either."
The sisters hugged, both in tears.
At that very moment, Ada's phone vibrated.
It was an unknown number.
She answered.
The voice on the other end said,
"If you want to know the whole truth about your father's past... meet me tomorrow morning. Come alone."
Before Ada could ask who was calling...
The line went dead.
To be continued...
