And the copper is sticking out way too far on that fitting. Snip to the edge of the fitting. And make sure none of the wire sheath is wrapped around it. Just in case anyone wants to do it right.

Current Cable tech here. For the love of your parents and their parents and their parents dogs, please, PLEASE, do NOT DO THIS. Short: this allows signal ingress, causing signal to not be good and you sad. Long form: this causes signal ingress, and most likely you will end up with a filter on your line as if it gets so bad enough, the neighbors will be affected and the maintenance team will be forced to put a filter on your line to stop it from affecting others around you. Cable signal is a lot like a hose, if you don’t have a solid connection, it will leak. And this is a cheap dollar tree hose connection that will be fine initially, but within a few minutes, it will be not great. Do yourself a favor, please have a technician come out, or, if you see one of us around, just ask for a proper jumper. We have the materials in our trucks to make one, and with experience comes a good cable. Give them the rough footage and we usually will be fine to make you one. Unless the techs a buttmunch, in which case they’ll probably just tell you “sorry, no” in which case just say “no problem” and walk away. We don’t do it for random people often, but if it’s like a 2-4 foot jumper, we’re fine with it. Have a good week, everyone.
