I love these guys because sometimes they’re so simple and it’s endearing. Because I’m a nerd like this I’m gonna explain it real quick. Over the last like 20 years they’ve been mapping things out via satellite as well as taking photos like for Google Maps so you have that out there. Yes a lot of work went into the programming of it but what they do now is it’s really a surveillance situation where they watch certain streets at certain times and they know when it’s more busy when it’s less busy, of course there’s gonna be differences and some days are gonna be different than others but most of the time it’s pretty on point like this morning I put my GPS on to say I need to go to work. I said I was gonna be there in 37 minutes. I didn’t get there until 45 minutes later so sometimes it’s right sometimes it’s wrong.

I work on a Gov project that collates all of my country's data for things like this (amongst other things we don't talk about) and I can assure you, as much as it is "impressive", it is also absolute hell for the people that have to manage it lol
