Inside Israel's Abusive Treatment of Gaza Flotilla Activists: Rape, Tasers, and Beatings

“You could hear people screaming… These are torturous conditions from my perspective… it was prolonged, like, escalatory violence…” Beatings. Tasers. Rape. This is what Israel allegedly just did to many of the activists, humanitarians and journalists it abducted after illegally intercepting the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. The flotilla was seeking bring aid to Palestinians and to break Israel’s illegal siege of Gaza. Zeteo political correspondent Prem Thakker spoke with Zeteo contributor Alex Colston who was among those detained by Israeli forces. In the conversation, Alex breaks down the torture and abuse he and others endured in Israeli detention. Alex also mentions how he blacked out because of the extreme pain he was in after being beaten multiple times and how he was in the room when Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir taunted detainees.
