The frustrating thing about this topic online is that good points get buried under whoever shouts loudest. On Amondyn a good argument doesn't get lost in the noise.

I went through a series layoff at the end of covid, spent years grabbing transitional experience to get out of supply chain and now I can't get a full time offer. I feel like anyone that hasn't been impacted has no clue how brutal the job market truly is. I just took a contract role through literally meeting the long time neighbor of the head of finance of this industry leader - I found millions in revenue leak via sales rebates. They didn't even follow up on the interview for a full time role nor get back to me. They just restructured and part of my work was just tabling data for Oracle ERP so they could automate what I did...

Brandon is right about applying for a job.. if you just send your resume and follow up with an Email you'll never get a job because you are just a faceless applicant!! when I was 24 I was living in Chicago.. I wanted this internship in NYC so bad, I have never been to NYC but I booked a flight and called the company and said I will be in Ny on said week and I would love to interview for the internship... I got it and in 3 months I was moving to NY!!! you have to be aggresive and go for what you want!!

My team all got a 10% pay cut and I’m suffering an illness that will likely take me out of work. What a time for this to happen in my life.

In 2009 i was a senior in high school teaching programming as the teacher's assistant. Programming wasn't a super high earning at the time. But while teaching programming, I figured out that programming's not going to be a valid career for very long and computers were going to be doing it very shortly. Granted, it took longer than I expected, but I saw this coming, even back in 2009. what I use to write it in was called eclipse. It's still used and is completely free. And guess what it does it corrects your code while you write and complete some of it. And that was in 2009.

The marketplace is terrible right now, the last time like this was 2008 - and is a shame PBD does not realize it... or maybe he is cashing on it?

I worked in IT and I went through this in 2008. I was a single dad with two small children so I wound up taking a job for about 40% of my last paycheck.

I know here in PA that 20 years ago if you called to check up on the status of your application and kept contact, it really showed you wanted that job. Now it gets you marked as a nuisance and either moved to the bottom of the pile or the trash bin

Keep up the great work, gents. The comments definitely add value different perspectives matter. But when there’s no engagement at all, it can feel like time isn’t being used effectively when the goal is to expand your thinking
