A Day in the Life of Cyber Security | SOC Analyst | Penetration Tester | Cyber Security Training

Looking for a Job? I Give You the 5 Best Ways to Find a Job in Cyber: I know many of you are struggling. I see your posts. I talk to some of you personally and know your battles well. I've been there myself. Sometimes it's the simple things that make a huge difference, so today I'm going to give you the top 5 ways to find a job in Cyber. 1. LinkedIn Job Search - simply by doing a search for penetration tester, SOC analyst, GRC, and other keywords, you will find a cumulative of millions of jobs listed. LinkedIn does a great job of finding matches for you. 2. CyberSN - by now you have probably heard of them. I've met many from this team personally and I can tell you they really do a great job of helping find jobs that match you. They have worked hard on breaking down different types of positions in cyber. Right now they have nearly 200,000 available jobs in Cyber on their site. 3. Indeed - If you have ever done a job search, you have heard of indeed. This is the largest job search engine in the world. A relatively simple platform that will bury you in opportunity quickly. 4. Dice - This site has been around forever. Mainly focused toward tech jobs, their platform and app is easy to use. Years back, I landed several contracts through this platform. Tip before I go to number 5 - Job titles are chaos in cyber security. A Security Analyst could mean 20 different things. If you want to make your job search more productive, search for your interests (i.e Burp, Splunk, Vulnerability Management, Disaster Recovery, etc). Searching for your interests and talents will put you in front of the right opportunities. Stop searching for titles. 5. Branding - Whether you like it or not, you are a salesperson. If you ever held a job, you've had to sell your skills and abilities to that employer to get hired. Who are you? What do you represent? What are your skills? What do you have to offer? These things together build a brand, which is you. I saved this one for last because it is truly the most important. Building your brand and networking will bring you far more leads than any search engine will. Michael Jordan missed over 9,000 shots in his career and lost over 300 games, but we all know who he is. Stop being afraid to step on the court. I promise you will never win a single game if you don't take a shot. 🏀 If you want weekly tips from me on how to get into this field, you can subscribe to my email list at ➡ www.breakincyber.com. ⬅ -------------- 🌟 I am Mike. Cybersecurity is a practice. You need to know what you are securing. Learning the Platform is the goal for every IT or Computer Science Majors out there. After working years on the platform, you can transition into cybersecurity. The problem is education and companies hype up security to have funding and for you to enroll into their cybersecurity programs for financial gain purposes.

What job postings like these mean is that they want somebody with senior level experience for an entry level salary.

Apply for the jobs anyways. Have a solid resume and good personality and you’ll land a job somewhere. Good thing that the job market for cybersecurity has grow 32% this past year. Lots of jobs available

I'm actually trying to go to school for this and now I see this oh my goodness I just don't understand why they say that they need this amount experience when they're going to be training you in the first way

I’m 24 and already feeling like I’m late to cybersecurity because of job posts demanding 5+ years of experience for entry-level roles and It’s so discouraging too. How are freshers ever supposed to grow if nobody gives them a chance? We all have to start somewhere — every expert was once a beginner. Still i will Keep learning, keep building skills, and will make my own path.
