"We made an incredible small computer that only costs $35!" - "What!? Wow! That's amazing! How much did you say it costs?" - "$500"

It would be nice for me if pi 6 can be powered more easily using any PD 3.0 usb-c without those annoying under voltage warnings.

Thanks for Pi SBC update! I was hoping for more ports. But maybe we'll get more PCIe lanes plus PCIe 3 or 4?

We haven't got Pi:San Andreas yet

I like the Pi and I have at least one of every one of them including the 5 with 8gb RAM. The problem now is that the Pi is no longer worth the cost. You can buy a real, albeit low end, micro PC for the same cost as a Pi with case, cooler, power supply, etc. Except the Micro PC will be similar size, faster, and more capable than the Pi. Unless the Pi 6 gets back down to $35 😂

I missed the Pi4.. have Pi1-3 and was lucky enough to get a Pi5 before the price balloon.

Doing what so many do, starts with the winning idea of a dirt cheap, accessible device so successful that it gains a near cult following.... throws it all away by forgetting what made them a success and chasing "bigger better faster" and therefore more expensive and less accessible. Don't blame it on the cost of RAM or CPU's, they would have gone this path anyway. And they too are failing to read the room, chasing the AI bubble. AI has it's place, but it's not the "holy grail". I would say more "hobbyists" and the sorts of people that got involved in what is essentially a "hands on, build something yourself" device aren't that interested. Being an alternative, away from AI might be a better idea.

I wish they had not dropped support for the pigpiod library. It allowed proper high speed pulse train generation ie step and direction for steppers with fairly simple DMA scripts.

Not surprised the pi3 is still going strong. IMO jts the last “true” pi. The 4 and 5 are so much more expensive, not just the board itself but the adaptor (and the sometimes dongles) that they crossed the threshold where thin pc’s are more powerful AND cheaper for those who use pi’s in htpc/computes

Honestly Jeff, we are kinda very familiar with bad news when it comes to hardware since that AI bubble started, it's just another saturday morning in the homelab lol Have a great weekend mister universal clock 😅

I just recently got into DIY stuff and realized I had to drive 1 hour to a Microcenter for a Zero 2 because Fry's and Radioshack don't exist anymore.

I honestly think they should focus more on the MCU/Pico side, innovations like the PIO are what I look forward to. Maybe a good Pi Zero upgrade in the near future, though it's all about the supply chain longevity than the raw specs. They don't need to increase CPU power much, just better peripherals (USB3, ethernet expansion, etc) would be enough.

Thank you for keeping the video concise, I miss the era of YouTube where videos weren't stretched too long for no reason

I am fine with this. I am way more excited about RISC-V and edge computing. K3 review when, Jeff? It looks very competitive with RPi on pure performance.

I snagged a CM4 right before the real crunch of Pi demand hit, can't wait to see what's next for them!

I think i got more coding done on the rp2040 and above boards along with wiring up sensors to it than i did a full raspberry pi, Maybe there’s less fear of destroying something rather expensive on it.

You can still buy a raspberry pi 1gb for about $40 at microcenter. I just got a pair of them to run adguard on

It's been a while since a Raspberry Pi has made much sense. It's crazy that what started as a $30 SBC with pretty severely limited capabilities has turned into a $130+ SBC with... pretty severely limited capabilities. I'm not buying supply chain issues at this point, I think the org has simply lost sight of the market they serve.

Call me crazy, i want the jank headphone combo jack back... (I have a use for a crt and SOME power)
