When I was a kid, living in rural England, I remember I had a friend visit from London. We went for a walk in the countryside and walked past a couple and said our friendly "heyas". My pal, witth fear in her eeyes, asked who they were and I said no idea. The sheer shock she had to overcome that we said hello to total strangers in the middle of no wheree.
