Also, in what world do they think people were converting to Judaism in the 1930s–40s? Jews were being exterminated in Europe, discriminated against in the US, and facing rising antisemitism across the Middle East. They were a persecuted and often unwelcome minority, why would anyone in those conditions, choose to convert?
