For this episode of L&T, we took an iconic guest - L’s mom to one of Mumbai’s most iconic seafood restaurants: Gajalee. The mission? To finally see whether their famous Bombil Fry actually lives up to the hype. The verdict was divided. The Bombil Fry felt way too thin, making it seem like there was more batter than fish… but M still believes it deserves another shot. The real surprise of the meal was the Mutton Masala Dry tender, spicy, flavour-packed, and honestly the standout dish of the night. While it traditionally comes with puri, we swapped it for ghavne (similar to neer dosa) and that combination worked SO much better. We also tried: • Clams - decent, but not mind-blowing • Special Prawn Curry - tasted exactly like a comforting Mangalorean home-style curry If you love: • Mumbai seafood restaurants • Mangalorean food • Bombil fry • Coastal Indian cuisine • Honest restaurant reviews …this one’s for you.
