That is fantastic. Like you've said, the Louis Vuitton store is merely the "gift shop" to "The Louis" exhibit. And the exhibit is temporary. It really is in the vein of an exposition. Europe, the West and France are sharing a bit of their culture and heritage with Shanghai, China and the East. Hopefully, in understanding and appreciating the heritage of Louis Vuitton, the Chinese people (but more likely tourist) will be enticed into buying (or rather, investing in) a Louis Vuitton piece. This is my world. This is what I specialise in, in architecture. And it's been my whole life. When I was a child of about five, I wanted to be an artist. But, by eight, I decided upon architecture (since most of my drawings were architectural). It wasn't until the age of sixteen that I really understood what it meant to be an "Imagineer" within The Walt Disney Company. I took the path of architecture with the intention of working for Disney, but it was a course in "architecture and cultural representation" that introduced me to the history, sociology and politics of international expositions/world's fairs. It's that tradition of exposition that expanded my architectural interest from merely thematic to experiential. I'm really glad that you got to experience The Louis. You really seemed to have fun exploring the space. I could easily have spent a few hours not just taking in the space, but examining every little artifact. Oh, and the use of mirrors on ceilings and what would have been a blank wall to visually expand the space, that was something I had previously mentioned about Honest Ed's. It's low tech, but effective. And those novelty bags and "do-dads" are normal Louis Vuitton fare. Things like the keychains are meant to be "accessible" to those who otherwise aren't patrons of the brand, but are "tourists" to that lifestyle. While a bag shaped like a peacock or branded running shoes are for those who peacock like rappers and reality TV celebrities and influencers. It's such a cool exhibit, though. It was Eddie Sotto who had introduced me to it a while ago. He had made the comparison of the oversized LV luggage to what he had done for Bon Voyage! at Tokyo Disney Resort. And he beat Louis Vuitton to it in that particular bit of programmatic architecture. Can you imagine a hundred years ago, a building in the shape of a ship like this, or a tea house in the shape of a teapot, a camera shop shaped like a camera, a (boutique) hotel in the shape of an elephant, or a donut shop with a giant donut on the roof weren't so as uncommon as The Louis is today? I wish the world were still so fun and playful.

Louis Vuitton had an exhibition here in downtown New York several years back but nothing quite like that. The temporary flagship store in Manhattan is very well curated and same is true with all their location. You nailed this one.

I found it interesting because when I looked at the cruise I thought it would be like taking a trip at sea for a few days, but it's a shopping mall and that really caught my attention because it's a shopping mall, and I liked seeing the bags, they are very large.
