Weber BBQ Grill Grate Direction - Which Side Goes Up?!

Food

Which side of the grill grate goes up, the flat or the V shaped side? In this video I quickly show you which side goes up and hopefully settle any doubts you have while setting up your new grill! I have a Weber E-210, but this same grate direction should apply to other grills as well! -- Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to see videos first, and LIKE this video if you found it helpful! Questions? Holy smokes, this was unbelievably amazing people were going the wrong way on these plates, seriously, thought it was as obvious as the nose on your face. NO, not being a smartarse at all, just baffling as hell.

according to Weber chat. "Great question! For the Dual-Sided Sear Grate, when grilling meat, the side with the cow and chicken icon should be facing up. For veggies or seafood, flip it so the fish and vegetable icon is up. This helps you get the best sear for each type of food. Happy grilling! 🍔" I'm not at my E-210 to see if I have a cow and chicken icon :) Of course, if you want to go with what a bot says. I also set mine up wrong if we're going with flat side up.

Ha.. I've had this argument with most of my grilling buddies! Always flat side up, you're 100% correct!

I went to my local big box store yesterday and all their grills with this style grate were installed V-side up. I believe you are correct with flat side up.

Flat side is for steaks and narrow V shaped side for Chicken, Dogs, Etc

OMG, am I embarrassed? I will not tell you hw many years I have been grilling with the grates the wrong way. I am really grateful to you for this correction but WOW!!! Do I feel dumb.

I recently bought Weber Spirit EP-425. I went flat side up because it easier to clean. I did not want deal with cleaning pointy side. Grilling has been great!

I have the same grill and use both. Left side is V up right side is flat up

Both can be used. Thinner for light protein like chicken and fish. Wide grill for steaks and chops.
