Thank you You just saved me some serious headaches sir
Wonderful video for us folks in the planning stage. Many thanks. I’ll watch more.
Great video acknowledging some of the more general construction was out of your wheelhouse. See this, and much much worse, all the time. Kudos to your honestly and I've subscribed.
Sir, use liquid nails for those small pieces 👍👍👍👍
I think your kitchen looks really lovely, very plush (I have a very rustic outdoor kitchen). I may have solutions to a few of your problems though if you haven't tried them yet: Problem 1- Try sticking the tiles back on with construction adhesive. Problem 4- Run some mesh across the ceiling to stop the birds perching. Problem 5- Rough up the counter top and lay large tiles on top of the concrete and make that into a feature.
Im in the process of building an outdoor kitchen and this video was very helpful. Im having a 6” thick concrete pad pour 16x16ft but the kitchen will be an octagon shape with 30” deep counters about a foot off the edge of the pad. Then the stone masons will mortar the flagstone right to the pad.
So alot of the issues can be fixed.. like the access panels.. rent a concrete saw and cut panels in.. beats fighting it every year.. replace the drawers with a built in unit.. instead of wasting space.. there are moderatly easy solutions just takes more work
Totally agree with me having the same issues with doing stone around everything and it eventually becoming loose or falling off, how annoying. Even using tile cement backer board you get expansion and contraction through different seasons meaning all corners grouted are cracked eventually, I realized this and went with grout colored silicone in all corners. Been re cementing stone tiles on with caulking gun and contractor adhesive.
Great video! How do you like the kamado grills underneath the enclosed roof? We are debating this but worried it would leave too much smoke captured in that type of area. Has that been an issue?
Have you tried to use alien double-sided tape that might work. That stuff sticks to everything. I use on the outside of my stucco house to hang my led solar lights
I am so glad i watched this! Thank you! Im going to be building one in a few weeks so its good to know ahead of time things most people don't think about
Very brave man to post your honest mistakes. I would offer a few ideas to fix some. Make a small portable island (on wheels) for more counter top space. trench along the stone pavers and pour a concrete curb, if you want to go a little deeper into getting a better look, make the trench a little deeper and wider and set soilder pavers to the stone is level with you current pavers.
I want to see what you did right. This was a great video.
5:00 most normal humans will never have that much equipment. To your problem though, just use a stainless prep table on casters. Free to move materials to any unit, or every unit, easily.
Thanks for sharing your mistakes….mistakes are only learning opportunities..and your wisdom to share is a benefit to all who watch
Does the counter get scalding hot in the sun?
I just watched another video talking about all of these issues except for the rodent and bird issues during another outdoor kitchen build. Which the Rodent issue is a very good point and easily over looked. Good to see people talking about the bad from their builds. This content is almost more helpful then the build videos. Thank you for sharing this. For the exterior finishings I belive I am going to use T&G weather rated wood that comes prefinished. As much as I like the brick/stone. I dont want the hassle of the cost and I dont want to have to sub that work out. Counter tops are the only thing I plan to sub out.
Hi.. I used to have the same problem with birds and mice. But my youngest kid wanted a Cat. All problems were solved. 😅 She is a hunter. Even snakes.
Very honest and helpful video. Thanks!!!
Thank you for your honesty its really helped.
