Your assessment is spot-on. BTW: When I tried their creamed spinach it was enough to put me off my feed. It was a genuine "bitter brew".

You shouldn't feel robbed. You had enough information to make a better decision.

My first thought was βthey have The Keg in the US?β, and then the man goes $290 US or $400 Canadian and it all fell into place.

My Wife and I used to go to PLs twice a week in the Early 90βs. The server used to put butter knives on the table and honestly they cut like butter. Their T Bone steaks were amazing because they were Aged in a 100 year old Refrigeration system and they had a Mechanic who was always on call to keep the German made Refrigeration running. After many years the Granddaughter took over and not only purchased all the meat but replaced all the refrigeration equipment. The Steaks now need a saw to cut the meat and we havenβt returned since. Aging quality meat is everything .

π PL is a clown show and a joke, total embarrassment. Overpriced trash that is living off a 30 year reputationβ¦ once upon a time there were a select few top tier NYC steakhouses and PL reigned supreme. Over the years however they have become lazy, sloppy and incredibly dismissive of their productβ¦ and patrons. Only those who experienced PL during its peak and have a taste for a superior product recognize what a cesspool it has become. I donβt care about the plate and the residual grease and fat that accumulates due to the 700 degree temperature the plate gets in the broiler. The fact is, the food sucksβ¦ even the Shrimp cocktail, which was the SINGLE BEST ITEM ON THEIR MENU IS NOW A BLAND PIECE OF SILLY PUTTY IN SEARCH OF A SPICY COCKTAIL SAUCE TO SAVE IT. Donβt waste your moneyβ¦ the only thing that has improved at PL is the owners walletβ¦ the prices are obscene and offensiveβ¦. I donβt care how much money you haveβ¦ you canβt use it to improve the product.

I remember I went in 2017 and I was excited. Especially being from Texas I was hella excited. When I had the steak it was mediocre at best. The bacon was good and they had a good drinks. The bill expensive

That is insane. I just had a fantastic 20oz rib steak and a twice baked potato, mushroom Neptune and a drink for under $100 at The Keg in Alberta. The bread was fresh and warm, the steak cooked and seasoned perfectly and a CLEAN plate. The Keg may have been thought to have "fallen off" but I never get better value for a really nice steak dinner.
Same thing as Mastros.
$290? LOLLLLL!!!! Keep it.
