Coding is necessary, also it filters out who is a real cs student and who is not

Not everyone needs to learn how to code but ppl with interest should def learn it.

100% agree... I picked up programming in my mid 30s and been grinding for 7 years now. You start seeing CS/system science fundamentals in everything. You find yourself identifying first principles in any complex and dynamic domain more intuitively.

Learning to code will indeed strengthen problem-solving skills and potentially make people "smarter," but the direction of the tech world is shifting: the leaders building today’s systems are investing heavily in AI that can generate better code than most humans. The future likely isn’t more human coders—it’s fewer, more strategic thinkers leveraging far more powerful AI.

You should learn how to code because it's fun and it teaches you how to structure your thinking in a logical way. Even if you never actually become a developer it will be immensely useful. I have never ever had anyone in school or in university teach me how to think, only when I started doing programming courses the light switched on.

I feel like Jensen wants to see future where we can perform any task by just telling and leading an A.I. in any language, without need to learn coding and computer languages. It would be much better if computers start understanding our languages, mathematical notations and symbols and AI can be good opportunity for that. If one wants to achieve smartness, he can do that by learning subjects like math and physics, if not interested in coding, in fact they are better options than coding if coding just helps in problem solving. I agree with Jensen.

Yea, lucky for me the AI can practically write all that’s needed for me to accomplish my tasks. Thank you for saving me from the boredom and headache.

Learning to code; after all the syntax memorizing and getting deeper into solving problems with data structures and algorithms literally made me think MUCH better. I’m not quite sure that means my intelligence increased, but I surely got smarter (made better decisions, thought through everything differently and more proficiently). So I’d agree because I could objectively see the difference afterwards vs. before learning to code.

Jensen talks like he's suffering from a recurring nightmare of being a programmer.

It's like saying, although you know high level programming; you must learn assembly language to make you smarter

You want to learn these things you can learn them by doing something that will give you benefits if you are learning code that you will never use in your entire life just to be able to think critically break things or whatever you should learn something that gives you these things and also that thing has benefits like math if you can get these benefit with maths and it is kind of giving you benefits to be able to use math it is much better than learning a programming language that is going to give you nothing

Coding at its core is just breaking big problems into smaller problems and then applying logic to those smaller units. It's just as important to learn to think like that as it is to learn to think like a poet. I fear our children will have to be good at both
