Itโs mad to watch Haskell and Tindall react and realise that these top, top level players who dedicated their lives to this game have zero experience of the position that the guy next to them is playing each game.
That bok scrum against the abs was killer ! They had us kiwis in a choke hold lol cant remember if it was a quick tap after that then reinach scored but. I remember thinking, thats why they are the worlds best. That moment right there. Able to swing momentum at any given time throughout 80 minutes is crazy.
Finally!! Someone explaining it to folks! ๐
We should have never let this man leave Munster
Iโve played both and this is an excellent summary. Tighthead is much easier because you are tucked into position by two heads either side of yours. When the pressure comes on you can lower your hips and make yourself hard to move. Loosehead you are effectively required to keep a strong neck, a strong back, and make sure your legs are in the correct place. Bloody difficult!
I only thought it was based on which shoulder was stronger, and if you're a natural orthodox boxing stance or southpaw.
We need more breakdown on what's going on in scrums, it seems like it's one of those things you can only really understand by doing it
I've said this my whole life. You try playing tighthead prop its the hardest shit out no one ever cares about props
My brother played for NZ Navy with Wayne Shelford He was 6โ8 135kgs and with the other prop just stood at whatever side he wanted if he got there first๐ They had a scum better then that years All Blacks
Iโd say itโs also a left hand vs right hand dominance thing. Same as playing golf or cricket, if that makes sense. I side just feels more natural.
The one minute and a half has taught me more than 35 years of watching rugby.
Canโt believe it has taken me over 50 years to understand what was going on in the front row and now I do. Thank you for the explanation.
Quality player
We'll miss you at Bath, TDT!
The biggest difference is wages tightheads are one of top 2 paid players on your roster.
That's why the SAs are so good, their training is no joke. A professional player came to coach my son's team. He said they were all far to nice to each other, and that a training session in SA would look nothing like that.
Double salary.....what Bath?
