I really love the messaging here! I see too many defeatist messaging everywhere and I am not a fan of that. I am fully aware these things are difficult and scary but I agree that nothing makes you grow like the pursuit of such goals. We underestimate the value of the pursuit, but also our own capabilities. Go for it brothers and sisters 💛

If I didn't have "delusional" dreams, I would not have the will to live. To believe that I can achieve something extraordinary is what helps me get out of bed every morning and work on myself. Though, I don't like the term delusional. Ambitious and selective are better labels. It is only 'delusional' in the sense that other people do not believe you can execute it, but that's only because they cannot do it. But just because some, or many people are incapable of achieving something doesn't mean that I'm incapable too, even if it's a large number of people that are incapable of that .

Asterisk -- unless you're trying to do that as a living. If you have responsibilities, you can't ignore them for the sake of a dream. If you can make both work that's best.

Ok but please acknowledge the survivorship bias in using examples of those rare exceptions that prove the rule. Not to dissuade people from their dreams, but so people who don’t succeed don’t pile all the blame on themselves and develop self esteem issues

I have had a dream of making a videogame for so long. It’s been difficult, I realized I don’t like most mainstream online videogame culture, and I found that I only really enjoy predominantly female gaming spaces. I have technically made a game with a group, but I realized I don’t want to be a game artist, I want to program my own game, and I also realized that I was trying too hard with that group and I didnt actually mesh well with them. If I would be honest, it’s a bit of a serious hobby, but I don’t want to make it a hobby. I have thought about learning computer science to get a programming degree to supplement my skills. Given current job market that’s yeah, complicated. I’ve learned some things on how to create a product from some mentors. I’ve been using it selectively for my project but since it’s also a solo passion project I am spoiling it.

25 years i wanted to live in the best european country, today I celebrate 21 years in Switzerland, having by then not any possible chance to make it, nothing. Everybody told i wouldn't be able to make it. Today, my delusional goal is to become a great coach (studying already), write and publish and, later on, move to a south country and get a property with a sea view (of course i am told i won't make it alone). Let's see how it goes.

Never had words for it before, but this is why even though I set the bar low for myself, I never tell other people who are clearly capable and determined to scale it back.

Like the delusional dream of finding a partner somewhere? Yes, maybe I should pursue it somehow and someway but I've realized it's completely delusional and I've given up on it.
