Im a 70 year old woman, from Canada. In late April, early May I plan to start my backpacking trip to europe so this was helpful. thank you. I've done short 2 week trips to the UK 5 times in 10 years, staying at hostels. This will be a longer and farther version of that. Typically I schedule every hour lol, primarily to pre-book and pay for everything so I can control the exchange rate. I've vowed to do this trip truly with no prior real plan, just a general route. from merrakesh through spain to italy, northern europe, then over to the UK for a while. the excitement is building. Im retired so I can take as long as I want lol.
graduating in ‘25! this video really put everything into perspective and i feel like i can do it, thank you!!!
I feel like one thing I was surprised at was how much hostels costed during the summer!!! I know I some parts or the world or like Europe off season hostels are like dirt cheap like $10-25 or even less, but when I was looking in France/Amsterdam and other cities in Western Europe for this summer literally every single hostel was in the $50-80 range. Just something to keep in mind for budgeting because I was shook.
Talking about Hostel safety, while I was in London, one guy didn't come back with the group one night, lost his phone, and the hostel staff went to the absolute lengths of the Earth to find out where this guy ended up. Turns out he just pulled an all nighter, lost his phone, and rocked back up to the hostel in the morning.
2500 A MONTH!? I went backpacking in Germany for 2 weeks and spent a total of 300. Now, I must say, I was very aware of the money that I was spending, and didn't go on excursions or anything, but I had a blast! Just thinking about having 600/week when backpacking makes me jealous. Hmm, maybe I should mention that I'm a student and my whole life consists of living on a budget :)
Thanks so much for this. Some invaluable info that most people don't go so in-depth with. I just quit my teaching job of 8 years today and I've got 2 months until I start my backpacking trip. Wish me luck..! :D
Love how you have subtitles on your vid cause sometimes the YouTube ones are wrong
My buddy and I are taking a similar trip to Western Europe at the end of the year and have been doing research for months on how to do it properly, and this is by FAR the most helpful video I’ve come across for the type of travel we’re trying to do, so thank you!!
Please do a packing video! With like specific clothing recommendations like exactly what and wear you got it please!!
3:25 Sorry, the spell check on your transcription overlay had me in stitches: “Hostiles are not as scary as they seem”. I enjoy your tips and videos, thanks.
6:28 the app is called Omio not oatmeal. Idk who made the subs, they're hinky
Excellent video, no kidding. You packed a huge amount of important and useful info into a short vid. Outstanding work!
I’m lucky to be living long term in Germany, so I’ve been traveling around Europe the last few years and I still found every word so useful. Thank you😊
I’m gonna do it. I just traveled to London, Paris, and Italy in 10 days. Next time will be at least 2 months.
This was an incredibly and informative video, thank you so much for making this! Saving all of this information for my trip planning
Definitely interested in hearing about your working experience abroad!!
This is really helpful! I'm going so soon and this just adds trust into my plan. Thank you so much!
Please do a packing video
I’m planning to do backpacking in December, this video definitely helps!! :)
this is exactly the video I needed! Can you make a video on how to budget appropriately and do a breakdown of the costs? I’m currently looking to backpack Europe with a friend for a month and we’ve been struggling with finding ways to make it affordable so far !
