best budget tip: stay away
As a local, eat off the strip. So many great restaurants and lower prices
Disagree about staying off strip, especially if it’s your first time. Better to stay at a cheap resort like Luxor than to be spending hours a day on the Duece bus or extra walking. You’ll be walking a lot even staying on the strip, you don’t need to add to it. Just avoid weekends like Mark said as the rates are much more reasonable.
I was just in Vegas for a couple of days. It felt so empty in comparison to a couple of years ago. The strip used to be packed on a Saturday. Some hotel employees / taxi drivers said it was because of the tariffs (no more Canadians) but I think it’s also because of the greedy corporations.
I was born and raised in Vegas and I completely agree with Mark! If you can I would definitely recommend staying off the Strip and please be careful in summer, the hotels look close but they are very far apart! Fantastic video as always Mark! Safe travels, Nichole

Love Las Vegas but hotels and food have gotten so expensive! We went for a whole week a few years ago and for the same experience now it's more than double! Still enjoy a trip there though!

It is possible to eat cheap cheap in Vegas by staying away from the hotels. You don't have to stay too far from the strip. Great tips Mark. 👍👍 From Jim and Harriet
Didn't they stop with the free drinks for gamblers ("free"= a small tip) a few years ago? First day we were there, we crossed the street into a gas station & bought a bunch of beers. We used the the trash bin as an ice bucket (ice machine in the hallway). Same cans in the hotel's stores were priced x5 what we paid.
Fast, good, cheap. Pick two, you can't have all three.
I remember paying 70 dollars for Uber Eats there. I didn't even order a ton just a 40 dollar pizza, a side, a tip & fees
For sure do not go in the summer unless you are confident in a hot desert environment (105-110 degrees or more). Also the on-strip hotels I've stayed at always charge resort fees but then depending on the time of year the outdoor pools will be closed but still have to pay the full resort fee. CVS or ABC stores are where to get your snacks and drinks and yes a lot of places have a stocked mini fridge with insane prices so would recommend checking if the one you're staying at has an empty fridge that you can stock yourself. Do make sure you check out a show or few when you are here, they are fantastic, sometimes there are deals you can score well in advance of your visit, if not, as Mark said same day deals by going to the venue can be often found.
Great video Mark. Another thing I would like to add when it comes to Vegas is if you are in town for a sporting event (especially if you are a fan of the visiting team) is to buy your tickets before you leave for Vegas (at least 2-3 weeks before) even though you will have to pay the additional fees from sites like Ticketmaster. This is because some teams like the Golden Knights place a limit on how many tickets are sold to fans of the opposing team & once that limit is reached, you are out of luck when it comes to buying tickets while in Vegas because they use your home address to determine if they will sell tickets to you. The Golden Knights in particular do this so that they can maintain a home ice advantage, local fans (who are more likely to be Golden Knights fans) have the most access to tickets & that their arena isn't overrun with opposing fans. Now when it comes to the Raiders, you might be able to get some last minute tickets since they don't seem to care about their stadium being overrun by opposing fans but I would still buy the tickets ahead of time just to be on the safe side.
I have been to las Vegas many times. I have a pro tip, I never lose money gambling! The key is to not gamble! Have fun doing the other things, just don't ever gamble.

My rule of thumb for gambling budget is: only budget how much youre willing to lose. If youre only willing to lose $100, only budget $100. Also, if you hit it big (either on tables or slots) and want to keep playing, cash out, put whatever you went in with (the $100 for example), and then only gamble on your winnings; that way youre guarenteed to walk away with what you went in with
