All very nice places, but I'm surprised you don't have any South American countries - they are closish to USA, can be extremely affordable and have amazing scenery.
We are flying back to the states in two days. We just did five months in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Japan. I cannot recommended Cambodia and Vietnam enough. We loved those two countries so much.
Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia and Montenegro (former Yugoslavia) are relatively affordable and absolutely stunning.
From Canada. Spent four months in Chiang Mai, Thailand… .and the surrounding mountains. Don’t forget to go up to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. If you don’t go up there….they say you’ve never really been to Chiang Mai. On a second trip, I spent two months in Siem Reap, Cambodia… and the surrounding area. You really need at least the three day pass to visit Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the other major ancient temples. One day is simply too rushed and hurried and you won’t see much more than just Angkor Wat itself. I followed that two months with a Giant Ibis bus trip across country to Poipet, passing into Thailand again, and spending four days in wonderful Bangkok. In my late 60’s. I’m 72 now, can still carry my small backpack….carry on size, with a cross body sling. I never check any luggage. Take care. 🙏🏼 ☸️ ✈️ 🌴 🌴 🌴 😃
What a pleasure to watch! No distracting music, well spoken, and most of all fantastic content! We've been to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Zion. Loved them all. Moving to Europe this summer and so excited to explore. Thanks for the great suggestions!
As a native Slovenian, we ofter forget how beatiful our country is and all the nature. Also croatian coast is very nice and a holiday destination for most of us. We traveled a lot in years and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. Quality of life here is really high.
Just back from Gdansk Poland after doing Krakow last year. Flights were cheap from Kona Hawaii, airbnbs were cheap, food was cheap, transport was cheap, museums were cheap! Fantastic Poland, what a place!
You said exactly the same about Zagreb, what i‘ve always said about Croatia, „It‘s a real place!“ I love that. It doesn’t feel touristy. A relief for a real traveller.
I LOVE Poland. Great place to visit. The history is unreal.
Thailand always makes the top country to recommend after visiting 53 countries so far. Easy to get around, cheap, safe, and - yes - the food is soooo good. I lived in Philippines for 4 years. My first day there I was at a grocery store and noticed a bottle of local Tanduay rum was the same price as a carton of apple juice. Just a sign of how inexpensive it was going to be to live there. My friends and I would go to Anilao for the weekend. 8 dives, meals and dorm accommodation was about $150 for the weekend. You could easily make $100 a day budget there. Not sure you could make $100 on the West side of Costa Rice. Nice to see your point of view on the East side as it’s not well developed so probably contributes to its affordability. Took my adult family to Crete. Off the beaten past in non tourist restaurants we were paying about 1/3 the cost of a dinner out. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I am shocked Vietnam is not on your list. I hope you get to do a video on Vietnam in the future. It is VERY afforable with many wonderful sights.
I am in love with Poland ❤ Been to Krakow, Gdansk, Warsaw and Poznan. Will visit many more, definitely. Love Poland in summer and winter. And the people are so nice and cool!
Italy has gone up so much since the pandemic. It used to be not that much more expensive than Spain, but right now it is like 3x the cost of visiting Spain.
Very happy to see my homeland (Slovenia) on such a list!
Just launched a workshop explaining how we travel Europe for $100 per day or less (without staying in hostels): /europe_for_less
Don’t forget Romania! A wonderful country with amazing landscape, food and people
Great vid! I was an airline employee years back, so I hit Cambodia, Thailand, and Costa Rica, although I didn't spend a lot of time in these places. Hit the Philippines and GC/Bryce on separate occasions, and thoroughly enjoyed. There are sooo many hot spots to see in this great world! The more you go, the longer the bucket list gets. Never stop traveling! Thanks!
I share your love of Chiang Mai and Costa Rica, and was recently blown away by Sri Lanka. The people, the landscape, the history, everything. I was on an organised tour, so I wasn’t really doing it on the cheap, but the restaurants we went to were very reasonable, and after the tour I spent a week in a luxury hotel with a rooftop infinity pool for the price of a two-star hotel in France. A buffet breakfast was included, and I ate so much that I didn’t need anything for the rest of the day, except maybe a few nuts and a beer in the evening.
Nick, you have to go to Bydgoszcz and Toruń in Poland. Beautiful, historical and cheap.
I went to Greece in 2019. Athens is moderately priced. The Islands other than Santorini and Mikonos are incredible and super cheap. My favorite was Rhodes. And Northern Greece? Forget about it, Go to Meteora, Metsovo, the Vikos George, all beautiful and super cheap with amazing food.
