Hey fellas on Metcalf. The whole situation to me makes me think about how Tanah extended his contract last year while he was in the NSW cup team with no clear path to the nrl team. Compared to Metcalf who had one game on the bench after he became healthy again before his management put pressure on in the media and then made an exit from the club. Even if Metcalf has the higher ceiling I think the club has potentially made a call on form and on character or “team first” players.. I’m comfortable with that even if Metcalf is amazing for the Dragons next season. I also think the real future of the club is Webby being able to develop the younger Kiwi halves who don’t have returning to Sydney on the horizon at some point. I have a strong feeling that Ivan will pluck Jett off of us at some point but I hope that eventually we have two halves that are from NZ that have been in our system the whole time. i have a an Ivan tifoil hat theory. I reckon Ivan doesnt want to coach against nathan and nathan doesnt want to play against ivan. this could include jet also for Ivan SO in order for nathan to be able to be "free" in a way to go and explore his optons and join other clubs, ivan has "retired" from coaching, to allow nathan and jet to go wherever they want to without having to play against their dad. Thats what i got out of it when ivan talked about family first. taking a step back so his children can thrive in the comp with their future with more freedom from the awkwardness of playing against their dad (as a coach)

As a Warriors fan I honestly can't blame Metcalf, obviously I'd like him to be a team player and wait in the wings but as a fan you can't blame him one bit, he's also recently had a young family so it works out for everyone, I hope he kills it at the Dragons.
