From Overland Expeditions to Uganda’s Wild Frontiers Paul and Jane’s Story

There are safari stories, and then there are stories like that of Paul Goldring. A journey shaped by adventure, resilience, passion, and deep love for Africa. In the early 2000s, Paul was already leading long camping expeditions across Africa, guiding travelers from Botswana through the wild landscapes of the continent all the way to Uganda for gorilla trekking in Buhoma. These were the days before luxury safaris became common. It was raw adventure, dusty roads, campfires, and the spirit of discovery. From tourist guide to expedition leader, Paul slowly built a life around African travel. What started with camping tours grew into tour operations, safari lodges, and safari boats. Over the years, he became one of the quiet but important pioneers of experiential travel in Uganda. But behind the story of Paul is always the story of Jane. In Uganda, you rarely hear one name without the other. It is always Paul and Jane or Jane and Paul. While Paul was out on the road and in the wilderness, Jane carried much of the management, leadership, and administration that kept the dream alive. Together they built not just a business, but a life deeply rooted in Uganda. Today, they are proudly Ugandan in spirit and culture, blessed with twin daughters and affectionately carrying the titles of Salongo and Nalongo with joy and laughter. Now, as Paul moves closer to retirement, his journey has come full circle. From leading overland expeditions across Africa, he now spends more time as a fishing guide, still connected to nature, still sharing stories, and still inspiring others. His life reminds us that tourism is not just about travel. It is about courage, relationships, persistence, and the stories we leave behind.
