Turning it off will help the engine run more efficiently and maintain speed. Anyways, these Japanese vans are not only hilariously cute and funny, but also really reliable in the city. They're fuel-efficient and compact for families and work use. My dad owns a 660cc Mazda scrum for our family business, and it goes around 100 km/h on the highway with no issues. The only issue is that the passenger seat tends to heat up since the engine is below it. From what I've heard, these vans were built to support those who live in farmlands, small towns and mountainous areas of Japan.

For shower cover, you could make a curtain that hangs from hooks on all four corners of the raised trunk door that can be detached while driving. The bottom corners of the curtain could even have stakes that can go into the ground to make it wind resistant.
