Meet Margaret Ann Bulkley, a woman who defied the laws of the 19th century to follow her dreams. Since women weren't allowed to study medicine, she took a bold risk: she lived as a man named Dr. James Barry for over five decades. Serving as a high-ranking military surgeon, her true identity remained a complete mystery until the very end. This is a story of sacrifice, ambition, and a secret kept for a lifetime. What would you sacrifice to achieve your dream? Shows endless stupidness of people Like trmp and hes surrounding
I wanna be just like him! Seen as a male.
This doctor left instructions for how to handle the body after dying, specifically asking to be left in the clothes he was wearing and have no examination done of the body. Sadly as you can see his wishes were not followed.
James Barry was a trans man, not a “woman in disguise”. He explicitly referred to himself as a man even in his own private journals, and wanted to be treated as a man after death. Feminist history is important, but don’t erase queer history.
Why are you showing Florence Nightingale? No human, indeed no mammals, can change sex.
We have very strong evidence that Dr. James Barry was a trans man, not limited but including his very own wishes to be remembered as a man after death. I highly recommend putting just a bit more research into these videos, as one of the images shown is literally Florence nightingale. Besides, I also find it interesting that even when he is referred to as a woman, he is very rarely given his proper title of “doctor.”
It’s very likely that he was a trans man, not a “woman hiding her identity!” Queer history is also important :)
