CREDITS: JACK NEEL SPEAKER: CHASE HUGHES In this sharp insight, Chase Hughes explains how to neutralize dominance tactics in real time using a simple psychological shift. 🧠 When someone uses an exaggerated gesture—like an overly aggressive handshake—to project power, the instinct is often to react or submit. But Hughes suggests a different approach: call the behavior out calmly and directly. By naming what’s happening, you bring an unconscious tactic into conscious awareness. Once that happens, the dynamic changes immediately. The behavior loses its effect because it’s no longer operating beneath the surface—it’s been exposed and acknowledged. This aligns with a broader psychological principle: what remains unconscious can influence you, but what becomes conscious can be examined and controlled. The key takeaway is simple: awareness shifts power. By calmly identifying behaviors in the moment, you can disrupt manipulation and regain control of the interaction—without confrontation or escalation. This discussion explores psychology, social dynamics, and communication strategy, offering a practical way to handle subtle power plays with clarity and confidence. #ChaseHughes #JackNeel #Psychology #BodyLanguage #Communication #Mindset #Confidence #SocialDynamics #SelfAwareness #Influence

"What a grip you have, you must live alone!" - Austin Powers
Wow this is a really good short. I read online that only really smart people do shorts
Shaking hands with equal force is the most respectful handshake you can give.
I used to be that guy and overdid my handshakes. And you know what? That was also a very insecure time of my life
i do a firm handshake as a sign of respect , but ive had people shake my hand extra hard for whatever reason lol
loved learning about Carl Jung in my counselling course he made so much sense
Don’t know who else was taught but my dad taught me that a firm handshake and eye contact is a sign of respect from one man to another.
I was taught at a young age to shake hands with intent and have a firm grip. This shows respect for the other. When I shake a persons hand and it's weak or soft it tells me a lot about them and it just doesn't feel right. It's a culture thing. This guy needs to chill.
Men in the U.S. used to have strong handshakes. I still do. Nothing "alpha" about it, just firm handshake with direct eye contact. Men in Eastern Europe still do it.
I used to have a pretty firm shake and thought that was proper. Then I broke my hand and to this day it can be painful. I learned to be more thoughtful of other people’s physical situation - especially older folks.
Yep never understood some people like squeeze your hand so hard
Or you have a weak handshake. Sorry Im a sheetmetal worker suzy.
Then the alpha says “I read online that calling it out is a power move too”
Smart!
Best move: saying you have a little snot there on your nostril. They twitch and die. I'm a comedian and psychologist and a bit a weird. I use this to break alphas. Works every time.
Chill man. I just like a firm handshake lol some people overthink everything
I was told a good hand shake proves your genuine
As a boilermaker I often get comments on my handshake. I inform them I've been training that grip since I was 15...
I shake normal..but..if I feel...they are good and there is great light..I also..shake with one hand and touch..their wrist with my other...
I love how they used the phony tough guy from prison to replicate an alpha male 😅😅😅
