Social Movements Explained
Master's Sociology class project. A significant question in studying social movements is what drives activists to commit meaningful actions that spur change in the status quo. Plenty of theories take a stab at explaining the power of social change and its organizational aspects. One facet of early social movement theory is resource mobilization, a Marxist view of activism that emphasizes the need to leverage and organize economic and political power to create meaningful change. This framework and subsequent evolutions focus on how resource availability must be translated and further organized across the macro, messo, and micro levels of society and politics almost like a pyramid. #socialmovements #civilrightsmovement #maga
