At 57 Chocolate, we spent the afternoon learning about the history of chocolate, making our own chocolates, and tasting flavours rooted in African ingredients — all while understanding why supporting African-owned brands truly matters. Africa sits at the heart of global cocoa production, with Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire producing around 60% of the world’s cocoa. Yet, so much of the value is still created elsewhere. Experiences like this remind us why ownership, craftsmanship, and storytelling on the continent are so important.
